Update: The Hub Campus steel structure is complete!
Just three months after our Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Hub Campus, we celebrated the Topping Out of the structure that will be home to the Hub Women’s Shelter and expanded operations center!

A Topping Out Ceremony is a tradition held once the last beam is placed atop a structure that is being built. Supporters and partners of the Hub Campus joined us at the event to sign their names to the final beam before it was hoisted into place and topped with a tree, in line with tradition.

The Hub is an honoree for a Fast Company award!
We are thrilled to be included as an honoree on Fast Company’s 2021 list of Innovation by Design Awards in the Cities category! The Hub was nominated for and received honorable mention for the Hub Day Plaza, which opened in September 2020 as a welcoming gathering place for people experiencing homelessness in Memphis.

The Hub Plaza offers a suite of amenities including public restrooms, lockers, WiFi, electric outlets, seating, a shade structure, mail services, and staff available to create individualized pathways for each member of the homeless community.

Congratulations to Hub client Mr. Myricks! He stopped by the Plaza last week to say hi and share his thanks with the Hub staff for their hard work!

Bailey Amos, a Client Pathway Coordinator at the Hub Plaza, has been working with Mr. Myricks since March. Bailey started creating pathways out of homelessness with him by accessing his Ohio birth certificate and getting him involved in the Work Local employment program. He had a suspended Commercial Drivers License and started saving money to get it reinstated. When he visited us at the Plaza last week, he arrived in the truck that he now works out of!

This is an excellent example of the dedication and creative problem solving that the Hub staff contribute to their work every day.
