The Importance of Volunteers at the HUB

Volunteers play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Hospitality HUB. With only two full-time and two part-time staff members, the majority of our services are made available through dedicated and talented volunteers.

So if you are looking for a rewarding volunteer experience, like to help out people in need, and have some free time to spare, join the HUB team!!!

Becoming a Volunteer

No prior experience with the homeless is necessary to volunteer at the HUB.

It’s Easy!

1. Print out application, fill out, and mail in, Give us one week to process application and respond


2. In-person Interview 

3. Attend one two-hour orientation workshop


4. “Shadow” other volunteers

Volunteer Assignments

Volunteers perform a wide range of duties at the HUB. Activities range from one-on-one interviews with guests to office work performed behind the scenes.
Volunteer tasks at the HUB include:

• Greet and check in guests as receptionist
• Assist guests make phone calls
• Sort, log and distribute mail
• Perform office work such as filing and answering phones
• Perform intake and counsel guests
• Help out on Clean-Up Days

Volunteering Blocks

We need volunteers on the following days:

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday
12:30-4:00 PM
Time Commitment: 3 1/2 hours

Tuesday & Thursday
9:00 AM-12:30 PM
Time Commitment: 3 1/2 hours

Various weekends for Clean-Up Days
Time Commitment: 2 hours

Time Commitment

Most volunteers volunteer one day a week. We ask that individuals volunteer no less than once a month.

Volunteer Expectations

Because volunteers play such an important role at the HUB, we ask that volunteers take their commitment seriously and be watchful about scheduling other activities that conflict with promised time at the HUB.

Offsite Volunteer Opportunities

Want to help out at the HUB but are unable to volunteer during the week? Consider the following offsite ways to contribute!

• Organize a hygiene kit collection drive at your local church or club. See Wish List for other items needed at the HUB.
• Participate in Clean-Up Days, scheduled on various weekends throughout the year
• Help us create “Goodie Bags” during the holiday season.
• Host a fund-raising event at your home or help us out on other fund-raising activities.
