Letters to the HUB

“While I was at the HUB…you afforded me an address to be able to receive mail, gave me a locker so I'd have a place to put my clothes when I did get some, you sent off for my birth certificate so I could go get my I.D., but most of all you gave me peace of mind.”

Ms. Director of the Hub,

I would like to take the time to thank you and all the ones there at the Hub for the help you've given me at a so desperate time in my life.

For the first time in my life I found myself homeless and broke with no one to turn to. After living on the streets for six weeks I heard about the Hub and all they do for the homeless so I came to check it out and to my disbelief it was exactly what I was told. Everyone was so nice, welcomed everyone with open arms, and my counselor got straight to work on my case after finding out my needs. She then made it possible to see a V.A. representative the next day. I assumed I had nothing coming from the V.A. after 6 years of service. Within 48 hours, my new V.A. caseworker got me in a drug and alcohol program at C.A.A.P. [Cocaine and Alcohol Awareness Program].

While I was at the Hub not only did you all solve my homeless problems but you afforded me an address to be able to receive mail, gave me a locker so I'd have a place to put my clothes when I did get some, you sent off for my birth certificate so I could go get my I.D., but most of all you gave me peace of mind. I sleep at night now a very restful sleep and I feel I have a chance to re-enter society with a fighting chance even in this economy that is in such a weathered state.

I believe god sent me to you knowing you'd give me the help I needed. He never makes a mistake and I feel all of you at the Hub are truly god's people. Again, thank you and all the ones there for your help and love.
